Geographical location

history

The place name is probably derived from a house or side house (Low German Bihuus ) that belonged to a wealthy aristocratic owner. Most likely it was the Byhusen family who lived here. She probably belonged to the Bremen service nobility . Her seal showed a heart that can be found today in the municipality's coat of arms. The family moved to Stade unknown , where in 1293 an Olricus de Byhusen is recorded as bailiff . In 2001 a Mr. Bihusen worked as a press spokesman at the University of Harburg. The "Haus im Stüh ", a youth leisure center near Farven , was also under his administration . According to his own statement, this Mr. Bihusen was a descendant of the von Byhusen family.

In the 12th century, Byhusen belonged to the Georgskloster Stade . This was confirmed in 1257 by Archbishop Gerhard II of Bremen . By 1500 only four of the ten full courtyards were occupied.

In the First World War , nine soldiers from Byhus died or are missing.

From 1971 to 1974 Byhusen belonged as an independent municipality to the Ostiederung joint municipality . On March 1, 1974, Byhusen was incorporated into Farven.
