Bystryj (Ukrainian Бистрий ; Russian Быстрый / Bystry , Polish Bystra ) is a small village in Drohobych Raion of Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine 73 km southwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Lviv and 14 kilometers south of the Rajonshauptstadt Drohobych at the confluence of Bystryj with the Temenez (Темешень) located.
It belongs administratively to the district municipality Dobrohostiw, which also includes the eponymous Dobrohostiw (Доброгостів).
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1670 and was initially part of the Polish-Lithuanian aristocratic republic (as part of the Ruthenian Voivodeship ), from 1774 to 1918 it belonged to the Austrian Crown Land of Galicia under its Polish name of Bystra and was subordinate to the Drohobycz District Commission .
After the end of the First World War, the place came to Poland (in the voivodeship Lemberg , Powiat Drohobycz, Gmina Stebnik), was briefly occupied by the Soviet Union during World War II and then by Germany from 1941 to 1944 .
After the end of the war the place was added to the Soviet Union , there the village came to the Ukrainian SSR and has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991.
