César Fernández Ardavín

César Fernández Ardavín (born July 22, 1923 in Madrid , † September 7, 2012 in Boadilla del Monte , Autonomous Community of Madrid ) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter .

César Fernández made over 40 films between 1952 and 1979. He experienced his greatest success when he won the Golden Bear at the 1960 Berlinale for Der Schelm von Salamanca ( El Lazarillo de Tormes ) . His film surprisingly prevailed against films like Out of Breath by Jean-Luc Godard and Who sows the Wind by Stanley Kramer .
