history

In 1773 one of the later main namesake Richard Ellis founded his real estate agency in London. In 1906 Colbert Coldwell founded the real estate company Tucker, Lynch & Coldwell in San Francisco, USA. In 1914 Benjamin Arthur Banker became a partner in the company. The two namesake renamed the company to Coldwell, Banker & Company in 1936 . By the 1940s, what would later become known as CB Commercial , grew into one of the largest private real estate service companies in the western United States. In the 1960s and 1970s the range of services was expanded. At the same time, a location expansion took place within the United States, so that the company became a comprehensive service provider in the real estate segment beyond the traditional brokerage business. In 1998 the two real estate companies CB Commercial and Richard Ellis International, Limited (REI Ltd.) merged to become CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). With the acquisition of the Insignia Financial Group in 2003, CBRE became a real estate services group. In 2004 the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange. In 2006, CBRE bought the Trammell Crow Company . In 2009, CBRE was selected by BusinessWeek as one of the “50 Elite Companies” worldwide for the third time in a row. In 2011 the company was renamed from CB Richard Ellis worldwide to CBRE. On September 1, 2015, the acquisition of the heating and air conditioning management and service businesses of Johnson Controls for $ 1.48 billion was completed.

CBRE in Germany

CBRE Germany has had its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main since 1973. There are further branches in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne, Essen, Munich and Stuttgart. The service focus of CBRE in Germany includes the areas Agency, Building Consultancy, Capital Markets, Global Workplace Solutions, Hotels, Industrial / Logistics, Asset Services, Public Advisory Services, Research, Retail and Valuation.

In February 2014, the CBRE Group completed the takeover of VALTEQ Gesellschaft mbH and its subsidiaries (VALTEQ), a leading technical consulting company in Germany. The company focuses on technical and environmental due diligence in the commercial property sector. The company with around 60 employees will be integrated into the Building Consultancy division of CBRE in Germany and Europe. VALTEQ has five locations: Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Munich and Nuremberg.

The CBRE Group completed the takeover of Preuss Unternehmensgruppe GmbH in August 2014. The company specializes in project management services, particularly for new property developments and the renovation of large properties. The company, with around 100 employees, mainly architects and civil and building services engineers, will now be fully integrated into the CBRE Building Consultancy division in Germany and Europe. Preuss is based in four locations: Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Berlin.

CBRE in Austria

CBRE has had a branch in Vienna since 1991 and is now one of the leading consultants in the commercial real estate sector in Austria. The service focus of CBRE in Austria includes the service areas leasing and sales, capital markets, building consultancy, property management, real estate valuation, global workplace solutions, residential real estate and retail real estate.

CBRE in Switzerland

CBRE has been active in Switzerland since 1997. As one of the leading real estate consulting firms, CBRE Switzerland has branches in Zurich , Geneva , Lausanne and Basel .

CBRE Switzerland provides consulting services for real estate investors, developers and users across all sectors of use. The latter include the areas of office, retail, industry and logistics, hotel, residential and other special properties.

The service focus of CBRE Switzerland includes the areas of Advisory & Transaction Services (leasing and leasing), Portfolio & Asset Services, Capital Markets (purchase and sale), Valuation & Advisory Services (evaluation and strategic advice), Building Consultancy (building owner advice) and research . In these fields of activity, CBRE employs over 100 consultants in Switzerland.

With the acquisition of psm Center Management AG in 2014, the consulting services in the retail property sector were further expanded.

The Global Workplace Solutions (Integrated Facility and Corporate Real Estate Management) division, which was taken over by Johnson Controls in 2015, has over 600 employees in Switzerland.

CBRE Global Investors

CBRE Global Investors is an independent subsidiary of CBRE, which specializes in asset management in the real estate sector. CBRE Global Investors invests assets in real estate for institutional investors and wealthy people. In mid-2018, the managed assets were approx. $ 101.7 billion.

In 2009, CBRE Global Investors acquired the Heilbronn City Gallery . In the spring of 2013 the company took over the Leine-Center Laatzen near Hanover from a group of investors for 117 million euros . In summer 2015, CBRE Global Investors acquired the Sevens Center in Düsseldorf's Königsallee from the Austrian Signa Holding . In October 2016, the Glacis Gallery in Neu-Ulm was acquired for 145 million euros . In August 2018 it was announced that CBRE Global Investors had bought the Hanseatic Quarter in Hamburg from Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG for an estimated at least 200 million euros .
