CB Cornellà is a Spanish basketball club from Cornellà de Llobregat , Catalonia .
history
The association was founded in 1926. Because of the Spanish Civil War and its effects, the club's development was slow. The team played in Catalan syndicates for a long time. It was not until the early 1980s that they played in the Spanish basketball league system. Since then, the club has been promoted to the second highest division in Spanish basketball, which has been repeatedly followed by relegations to the third division. The 2009/10 season was the last in the Liga Española de Baloncesto for the time being . After relegation, those responsible saw themselves forced to voluntarily go up to division 4, as the third division would not have been financially playable.
From the early 1990s to 2010, Cornellá cooperated with FC Barcelona . The team could be seen as the Catalans' farm team . The best example of this cooperation is Pau Gasol . The future world champion and European champion , as well as two-time NBA winners with the Los Angeles Lakers , began his career at CB Cornellá before moving to Barcelona in 1997.
