Anthony Smith (born October 4, 1986 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Smith plays as a professional in Europe. After a season in the second Spanish league LEB Oro , he played a total of three seasons in the German basketball league . After he had already played in the first French LNB Pro A in the 2012/13 season , Smith played in the second division LNB Pro A in the 2014/15 season, before joining the Polish old master Śląsk Wrocław in the first in the 2015/16 season Polish league Tauron Basket league changed.

Career

Smith grew up in Plano (Texas) and in 2005 moved to study at the Baptist Liberty University in Lynchburg (Virginia) , where he played for the college team Flames in the Big South Conference of the NCAA . Smith is the player with the most wagers and most career minutes for the Flames and is among the top ten players with the most successful three-point attempts in Flames history. In addition to successful distance throws, Smith was also considered an athletic player by the Flames, whose slam dunks also made it into national coverage of the ESPN Sports Center. With the Flames, however, Smith was never able to qualify for a national NCAA finals and was also not included in the 2009 NBA draft of the most highly endowed US professional league NBA .

Therefore, Smith began his professional career in 2009 with the Spanish second division promoted from the Catalan Cornellà de Llobregat , which, however, was relegated at the end of the season and retired to fourth grade. In the 2010/11 BBL season he played first class in Giessen in Germany for the 46ers who, after a good start to the season, were in danger of relegation at the end of the season, but were still relegated this time. In the following season 2011/12 Smith then played for the league rivals Eisbären from Bremerhaven , who missed it at the end of the season, however, to move into the play-offs for the German championship for the third time in a row . For the following season Smith then moved to France to Union Poitiers Basket 86. However, the team did not get more than ten wins of the season in 30 games, which only reached the bottom of the table and resulted in relegation from the top division. At the beginning of the basketball Bundesliga 2013/14 Smith was signed again by the Eisbären Bremerhaven. However, the polar bears again clearly missed their place in the play-offs and led the bottom third of the table in the fight to stay relegated. Then Smith was again active in France and played for the club from Saint-Quentin in the second division LNB Pro B. With only one win lead, the second division reached relegation at the end of the season in 14th place in the table.

For the 2015/16 season Smith was signed by the Polish old master Śląsk from Wroclaw , for whom he will play in the first Polish league Tauron Basket Liga .
