CF Ballenas Galeana
The Club de Fútbol Ballenas Galeana de Morelos , also known as CF Ballenas Galeana for short , is a football club from Cuernavaca , the capital of the state of Morelos .
history
Foundation and origin of the name
The club was founded in 1956 and in its early days drew the majority of its players from the calle de Hermenegildo Galeana in the city center of Cuernavaca , which was included in the club name. In 1968 Antonio Nava Hernández took over the association and managed it for almost four decades until 2005. Nava owned a fish shop on the same street called “La Ballena” (Eng. “The Whale”), which initially served as a nickname ( Los Ballenas del Galeana , Eng . the whales of Galeana ) and was later integrated into the club name.
The first title win
The club celebrated its greatest success so far in the 2013 Clausura by winning the championship in the third-class Segunda División . For the final home game on May 25, 2013 against the traditional club and former first division club Unión de Curtidores , 8,000 spectators came to the Estadio Mariano Matamoros in the suburb of Xochitepec , where the club either plays its home games as well as in the Estadio Centenario in its hometown Cuernavaca. After the Ballenas had won the first leg 1-0, they needed a 5-4 win on penalties after the 0-1 defeat in the second leg in front of their own audience to win the championship.
Promotion to the second division
In the subsequent overall season finale, there was a dispute with Murciélagos FC , who had won the Apertura 2012. After a 2-2 draw in Guamúchil , Sinaloa , in front of 4,500 visitors, 15,000 visitors flocked to the second leg on June 1, 2013 at the Estadio Mariano Matamoros, where their team saw a 3-1 success, which is the prerequisite for promotion to the second League , in which she participated in the 2013-14 season . Financial problems led to the withdrawal from this league and the sale of the license at the end of the season.
