The CPLP Bridge ( Portuguese: Ponte CPLP ) is a two-lane road bridge in the Comoro district of the East Timorese capital Dili . It leads over the Rio Comoro , 800 meters north of the Hinode bridge (Comoro III bridge). The Avenida Nicolau Lobato , the main traffic route from the center of Dili to the west of the city and the entire country, leads over it. It replaces the Comoro Bridge, which previously stood there. The CPLP bridge is named after the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries ( Portuguese Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa , CPLP). It is 183 meters long.

The extradosed bridge was built in two phases (construction of the Comoro II bridge and replacement of the old Comoro I bridge). The Comoro II Bridge was opened by Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão on May 30, 2013 . The construction of the seven-meter-wide bridge alone cost US $ 8,758,000.

On May 28, 2013, the old bridge was demolished and in its place the new Comoro-I bridge was built by Consorcio Nacional Timorense (CNT) in a joint venture with Wijaya Karya (Wika). By including footpaths on both sides, the cost of this bridge increased to over $ 11.7 million.

On July 22, 2014, President Taur Matan Ruak finally opened the CPLP Bridge to traffic. Also present were Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão and, since the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP was taking place in Dili on the next day, President Cape Verdes Carlos Fonseca , President of Mozambique Armando Guebuza , President São Tomé and Príncipes Manuel Pinto da Costa , the Vice President of Angola Manuel Domingos Vicente , the Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau Domingos Simões Pereira , the Portuguese Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho and other international politicians. The bridge was blessed by Dilis Bishop Alberto Ricardo da Silva .

The arch over both bridges on the pylon with the Kaibauk at the top was only added after the roadways were opened and cost around 3 million US dollars.

In 2019, damage was found to the bridge's foundation.
