The Río Cañamares is a 45 km long north-south flowing river in the province of Guadalajara in central Spain; it is a tributary of the Río Henares .

course

The Río Cañamares arises from several source streams in the Castilian Scheidegebirge south of the place Miedes de Atienza in the province of Guadalajara . It flows steadily in a southerly direction past the places Pálmaces de Jadraque and Pinilla de Jadraque and finally flows into the Río Henares about 1 km (as the crow flies) southeast of the hamlet (pedanía) Castilblanco de Henares in the area of ​​the municipality ( municipio ) Jadraque .

Tributaries

Except for a few streams (arroyos) , the Río Cañamares has no tributaries.

Reservoir

The Río Cañamares is dammed at Palmaces de Jadraque in the Pálmaces reservoir .

Attractions

The Romanesque church of Pinilla de Jadraque is the most important cultural sight on the river.
