Cabezas is a country town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Cabezas is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Cabezas in the province of Cordillera . The city lies at an altitude of 469  m on the left bank of the Río Grande , which has finally reached the Bolivian lowlands here.

Cabezas is located on the southeastern edge of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental in the area of ​​the subtropical climate and is characterized by a six-month dry season that extends from May to October.

Transport network

Cabezas is 124 kilometers by road south of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Santa Cruz, the paved road Ruta 9 leads south via Río Seco to Cabezas and on via Abapó , Ipitá and Villamontes to Yacuiba on the Bolivian border with Argentina .

Cabezas is also a stop on the railway line from Santa Cruz to Yacuiba. From Abapó there are passenger train connections to the north and south, which take passengers to Santa Cruz in around three and a half hours and to Yacuiba in thirteen hours.
