Ipitá is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Ipitá is the central place of the canton Ipitá in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Gutiérrez in the province of Cordillera . The village is located at an altitude of 923 m on one of the eastern promontories of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental , which rises east of the village in a north-south direction to an altitude of 1500 m .

Ipitá is in the area of the tropical climate, the six-month wet season extends from November to April and the dry season from May to October.
The average annual temperature is 23 ° C (see Gutiérrez climate diagram), with 18 ° C from June to July and 25 ° C from October to February. The annual precipitation is almost 750 mm, the wettest months are January and February with 135 mm and the driest months July and August with almost 10 mm.
Transport network
Ipitá is located 205 kilometers by road south of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From Santa Cruz, the paved highway Ruta 9 leads south via Cabezas to Ipitá and on via Villamontes to Yacuiba on the Bolivian border with Argentina .
In Ipitá, the unpaved route 22 branches off in a northerly direction from route 9 and leads over 250 kilometers on the way via Masicurí and Vallegrande to Mataral in the province of Florida .

Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Guaraní population, in the municipality of Gutiérrez 77.3 percent of the population speak the Guaraní language .
