Masicurí is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Masicurí is the central place of the canton of the same name Masicurí in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Vallegrande in the province of Vallegrande . The village is located at an altitude of 2041  m on the Río Masicurí , which is a continuation of the Río Vilcas and flows into the Río Grande just before it reaches the lowlands. The ridges east of Masicurí reach heights of more than 1,800 m.

Masicurí is located in the eastern Andes on the southern edge of the Cordillera Oriental at the transition to the Bolivian lowlands. The climate of the valley region is subtropical and semi-humid .

The annual average temperature of the village is almost 25 ° C, the monthly averages fluctuate between 21 ° C in June / July and almost 27 ° C from November to January. The annual precipitation is almost 800 mm, in the dry season from May to September there is a long-term average of no more than 30 mm per month, while values ​​well over 100 mm are reached in the four-month wet season from December to March.

Masicurí is 323 kilometers by road southwest of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Santa Cruz, the paved highway Ruta 7 leads west to Cochabamba and after 187 kilometers via Samaipata and La Angostura reaches the small town of Mataral . From there the route 22 branches off in a southerly direction and leads via Vallegrande to Masicurí and on to Ipitá .
