Cadmium tellurite is an inorganic chemical compound of cadmium from the tellurite group .
Extraction and presentation
Cadmium tellurite thin films can be obtained by reacting cadmium sulfate with sodium tellurite in ammonia .
properties
Cadmium tellurite is a colorless solid that is practically insoluble in water. The compound is a semiconductor . It has a monoclinic crystal structure with the space group P 2 1 / c (space group no. 14) . At higher temperatures (over 540 ° C) the compound has a cubic and a hexagonal crystal structure.
use
Cadmium tellurite is used in the production and characterization of compounds of the sodalite family. Use for the production of solar cells is also possible.
