Caesar Seligmann

Caesar Seligmann (born December 14, 1860 in Landau in der Pfalz ; died June 3, 1950 in London ) was a German reform rabbi .

Life

Caesar Seligmann was a preacher at the liberal Poolstrasse Temple in Hamburg from 1889 to 1902 and a rabbi for the Israelite community in Frankfurt from 1903 to 1932 . He was one of the representatives of Reform Judaism . Long after the disputes over the liberal prayer book in Hamburg, he coined a standard prayer book for the liberal German-Jewish communities. Seligmann was editor of the monthly Liberales Judentum published between 1908 and 1922 . In 1939 Seligmann managed to emigrate to England.

Seligman's daughter Ilse Seglow became a group analyst in the vicinity of SH Foulkes . His daughter Evelyn Anderson was a journalist and after emigrating to England worked as an editor for the BBC .
