Caetés , officially Município de Caetés , is a city in the state of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil . In the 2010 census, the entire municipality had 26,577 inhabitants, which was estimated at 28,570 inhabitants as of July 1, 2018. The area is around 295 km². The distance to the capital Recife is 252 km.
The agriculture of Caetés produces u. a. Corn, beans, cotton and cassava.
Settlement began around 1834. Until 1963, Caetés belonged to the city of Garanhuns before it was spun off as "Distrito de Caetés" (previously "Distrito de São Caetés") .
