Arlindo Gomez Semedo called Cafú (born November 17, 1977 in Lisbon ) is a Cape Verdean football player with a Portuguese passport.

Club career

Cafú started his career with the Portuguese amateur club CF Amora . In 1999 he moved to Belenenses Lisbon , for whom he played until 2002. Then he switched to league competitor Boavista Porto , with whom he stayed until the winter break of the 2005/2006 season. In January 2006 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga to Sportfreunde Siegen , but could not prevent their relegation at the end of the season.

For the 2006/2007 season, Cafú moved to SC Freiburg on a free transfer and was there until the 2007/08 winter break, mostly as a substitute player, on 23 appearances and only one goal. He then moved to the Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia in late January 2008 .

National team

Cafú had initially made hopes of a call to the Portuguese national team. When he started qualifying for the 2006 World Cup , he made his debut in the Cape Verdean national team at the age of 26 . So far he has completed 14 international matches and scored 3 goals (as of May 2009) .
