Caimito is a city and a municipality in the Cuban province of Artemisa . Until 2010 the municipality was part of the dissolved province of La Habana .
The city is west of Bauta and north of Alquízar . The settlement was officially established in 1910.
The municipality has 36,813 inhabitants on an area of 238 km², which corresponds to a population density of 154.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The municipality is divided into four districts ( Barrio ): Caimito, Guayabal, Perfecto Lacoste and Quintana.
