Caitlin Patterson (born January 30, 1990 ) is an American cross-country skier .

Career

Patterson started in November 2006 in West Yellowstone for the first time in the US Super Tour . She finished 30th over 10 km classic. In February 2009 she achieved her first podium finishes in Stowe with second places over 5 km freestyle and 10 km classic. At the 2010 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Hinterzarten , she achieved 23rd place in the skiathlon , 17th place over 5 km classic and eighth place with the relay. The following year he came at the U23 World Championships in Otepää on the 26th place over 10 km freestyle and 20th place in the skiathlon. After third place in the 10 km freestyle at the US Super Tour in West Yellowstone at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, she ran her first World Cup race in Canmore , which she finished in 50th place in the 10 km mass start race. In February 2013 she achieved third place in the sprint at the US Super Tour in Madison and third place at the American Birkebeiner and at the end of the season seventh place in the US Super Tour overall ranking. At the U23 World Championships in Liberec in 2013 , she came in 38th place in sprint, 19th place in skiathlon and 14th place over 10 km freestyle. In the 2013/14 season she finished third twice and second three times in the US Super Tour and reached third place in the overall standings at the end of the season. The following season she came in the US Super Tour 14 times in the top ten, including third place in the sprint in Bozeman and second place in the 20 km mass start race in Houghton . In January 2015, she took her first victory in the US Super Tour in the 20 km mass start race in Craftsbury and finished fourth in the overall standings at the end of the season. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she achieved third place in the sprint and over 10 km classic on the US Super Tour in Sun Valley . In January 2016 she won the US Super Tour and at the same time the US Championships in Houghton over 10 km classic and in the 20 km mass start race. She also came third in the sprint. In the same month in Lake Placid won the 10 km classic and took second place in the sprint. The following month she started in the World Cup. She got her first World Cup points with 25th place in the 10 km mass start race in Falun and 29th place in the skiathlon in Lahti . At the end of the season she won third place in the 30 km mass start race at the US Super Tour in Craftsbury and won the overall ranking of the US Super Tour. In the 2016/17 season she finished 42nd in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer and 43rd in the World Cup final in Québec . She achieved her best individual World Cup placement in February 2017 in Pyeongchang with fourth place in the skiathlon and at the end of the season she finished 63rd in the overall World Cup. In the US Supertour she came in third place three times and came second twice, making her second place overall. In the 2017/18 season, she achieved second place in the overall ranking of the US Supertour with five podium finishes, including three wins. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, she finished 34th in the skiathlon and 26th in the 30 km mass start race.

After finishing 34th in the Lillehammer Triple at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Patterson became US champion in the 10 km classic and the 20 km mass start race in January 2019. At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , she finished 34th in both the skiathlon and the 30 km mass start race. At the end of the season, she achieved 46th place at the World Cup finals in Québec and finally reached fourth place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour.
