Calvin "Cal" Heeter (born November 2, 1988 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Hamburg Freezers in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Heeter began his career in 2006 with the Wichita Falls Wildcats in the junior division of the North American Hockey League . The following season he moved within the league to the St. Louis Bandits , before he was on the ice between 2008 and 2012 for the university team of Ohio State University in the Big Ten Conference , which is integrated into the game operations of the NCAA . In March 2012, the American was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League , but only played one game in the top division of North America in the 2012/13 season and spent much of the remaining season with the farm team Adirondack Phantoms in the American Hockey League . After the season, the left catcher was appointed to the squad of the US national team for the World Cup and won the bronze medal there with his team , although Heeter was not used in any game.

After a brief engagement with the Evansville Icemen in the East Coast Hockey League , Heeter moved to Europe in November 2014 and joined Medveščak Zagreb from the Russian Continental Hockey League , where he initially received a one-month trial contract. This was extended to the end of the season after solid performances, so that the goalkeeper played a total of 22 games for Zagreb in the 2014/15 season . In October 2015 Heeter received a contract with the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League until the end of the 2015/16 season .
