The Caledonia River is a river in eastern Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria .

It rises on the Howitt Plains , part of the Great Dividing Range in the Alpine National Park at an altitude of 1100 m.

The Caledonia River initially flows south and in the last third of its course west. It flows into the Macalister River after 33.6 km .

Tributaries

On its way it takes in the tributaries coming from the east Caledonia River East Branch , Pipe Creek , Dingo Creek and Shaw Creek . Just before it flows into the Macalister River, Pine Creek joins it from the north .

The Caledonia River and its tributaries lie in largely uninhabited mountainous areas of the Great Dividing Range .
