The California State Route 299 shortly CA 299 , running from west to east across northern California . It starts at Arcata near the Pacific and continues via Redding to Alturas and Cedarville . The State Route ends about nine miles after Cedarville on the Nevada border , but this last stretch of road is in very poor condition.

In places the 299 joins other routes, for example at Weaverville about 10 kilometers with the CA 3 , at Redding about five kilometers with the Interstate 5 , at Adin about 25 kilometers with the CA 139 and at Alturas about 10 kilometers with the US Highway 395 . The only major city on the route is Redding.

The total length of the road is 494.07 kilometers.
