Cameron Hanley
Cameron Hanley (born May 6, 1973 in Claremorris ) is an Irish equestrian.
Career
Hanley comes from an equestrian family; his parents run a well-known riding school in Ireland. Cameron Hanley first rode at the age of eight. At 16 he started to work on his parents' farm, moved to Switzerland at 18 and was employed by the Etter family for nine years. In 1991 he went to England for two years and then moved to the vicinity of Frankfurt.
With the Irish team, Hanley regularly competes in Nations Cups and triumphed in World Cup competitions and in Grand Prix. He cites the Dublin Grand Prix, which he won with Twilight in 2000, as his greatest win.
Hanley has so far participated in three international championships for Ireland: at the 2006 World Equestrian Games (with Hippica Kerman 6th with the team and 33rd in the individual ranking), at the European Championships 2007 (with Hippica Kerman 13th with the team and 66th in the individual competition) and in the European Championships in 2009 ( Livello seventh with the team and fourth in the individual competition).
From 2005 to mid-2010 Hanley rode the horses of the Turkish millionaire Sevil Sabancı in Pfungstadt . Since he, unlike his compatriot Gerry Flynn , was not ready to compete in sport for Turkey, Sabancı withdrew his horses. As a result, he left the stable.
In the summer of 2011, he injured his knee while playing with his children. This was followed by a double-digit number of operations, and it wasn't until February 2013 that he actively returned to sport. At the beginning of 2015, his sponsor withdrew seven horses from him and they moved to Pius Schwizer's stable .
Hanley is married with two children.
