Captain EO is a science fiction - short film by director Francis Ford Coppola in 1986 in 3D with Michael Jackson in the lead role. The film was and is shown exclusively in Disney amusement parks.

action

Captain EO is sent out with his chaotic crew, which includes the two-headed navigator Idea and Odee , the elephant-like hooter , the robot-like officer Major Domo and a cuddly toy named Fuzzball , to bring a gift to the evil queen of a gray machine planet .

After the group around Captain EO arrives there, the queen first wants to have the intruders thrown into the dungeon. But they set up the futuristic musical instruments they brought with them and Captain EO begins to sing and dance. Even the rusted machine hearts of the inhabitants become soft and the planet is transformed into a blooming paradise.

background

Although the film is only 17 minutes long, it was considered to be the most complex film production to date. Production costs were estimated at $ 23.7 million, which made Captain EO the most expensive film at the time (in terms of cost per minute of film).

The film contains two songs by Michael Jackson: We Are Here To Change The World (on the album The Ultimate Collection ), and Another Part Of Me (on the album Bad ).

publication

Although the presentation of the film was only planned for about 4 years, it was not canceled until 1998 after a 12-year run time due to the unbroken public interest. Later it was replaced by a new 3D film due to the further development of technical possibilities.
