Carl Delius (born January 3, 1874 in Ermsleben , Province of Saxony , † November 23, 1953 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German politician of the DDP .

Life and work

After attending elementary school in Ermsleben and a private school, where he passed the secondary school leaving certificate, Delius, who was of Protestant faith, entered the postal service in 1890, where he was promoted to postal secretary in 1915 through various levels of service.

Political party

During the Empire, Delius was a member of the Free People's Party , which in 1910 united with other left-liberal groups to form the Progressive People's Party . In 1918 he participated in the founding of the DDP and became its party chairman for the Merseburg district . He was also a member of the Reich Board of Directors of the DDP, where he was responsible for civil servant issues. In 1945 he participated in the founding of the LDP in Berlin .

MP

Delius was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1909 to 1918 . Since the 1919 /20 er belonged to the Weimar National Assembly of. He was then a member of the Reichstag until 1924 . From 1946 he was a member of the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt , as its age president he acted.

Public offices

In Otto Ostrowski's magistrate , Delius was designated as a city councilor for post and telecommunications in early 1947. However, since he was not confirmed by the Allied Command on intervention of the SED , he had to be replaced by Hugo Holthöfer on January 16, 1947 .
