Carl Friedrich von Wendt

Carl Friedrich Freiherr von Wendt (born October 18, 1748 in Papenhausen , County of Lippe , † January 21, 1825 in Hildesheim , buried in the northern cloister of the cathedral) was a palace bishop of Kassel in the Kingdom of Westphalia between 1808 and 1813. After Hildesheim from 1807 to Kingdom of Westphalia belonged to, King Jérôme Bonaparte appointed him palace bishop of Kassel.

Life

Carl Friedrich von Wendt was one of two sons of Carl Joseph Friedrich von Wendt zu Wiedenbrück and Papenhausen, Lippischer Landdrost and District Administrator von Varenholz, and his wife Henriette Dorothea von Eberstein zu Groß-Leinungen.

Carl Friedrich was page and chamberlain to the Paderborn Prince-Bishop Wilhelm Anton von der Asseburg in Neuhaus Castle. From November 14, 1770 to February 1, 1772 he studied law in Reims. In 1773 he was made capitular , in November 1776 dean . On April 8, 1777, von Wendt was ordained a priest in Neuhaus Castle. In 1782 he was appointed archdeacon , 1784 to Bishop in Hildesheim appointed and on October 10, 1784 consecrated . On June 25, 1784 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the titular diocese of Basilinopolis .

In 1789 he became vicar general and official for the diocese of Hildesheim. On March 14, 1792 he became provost of the cathedral (provost of the Hildesheim Holy Cross monastery). From 1807 to 1813 Wendt was palace bishop in Kassel. On December 12, 1816 he was appointed a delegate and on May 2, 1818 Vicar Apostolic .
