Carl Hermann Kanngießer

Carl Hermann Kanngießer (born June 3, 1820 in Königsberg in Prussia , † March 2, 1882 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and national liberal politician.

Kanngießer studied law in Berlin and Göttingen . Then he joined the Prussian judicial service. From 1845 he was an assessor at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt an der Oder . Thereafter unskilled laborer at the court in Greifswald . Between 1849 and 1854, Kanngießer was a public prosecutor in Greifswald, Lübben and Anklam . After that he was senior public prosecutor in Greifswald until 1863.

From 1859 he was a member of the board of the German National Association . Because of his political views, Kanngießer was put into temporary retirement in 1863 in connection with the constitutional conflict. Between 1865 and 1869 and again from 1872 to 1875 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . At first he belonged to the left center. In 1866 he was one of the founders of the national liberal faction. From 1867, Kanngießer was initially a member of the North German Reichstag and, after the establishment of the German Empire, until 1874 of the German Reichstag .

Ready in 1869 he was taken back into the active judicial service and was appellate judge in Magdeburg . In 1875 he became senior tribunal advisor in Berlin . With the appointment as Senate President at the Court of Appeal, Kanngießer was appointed to the Secret Higher Justice Council. From 1873 until his death he was a member of the Court of Justice for Church Affairs.
