Carl Philipp Falck

Carl Philipp Falck , also Karl Philipp Falck (born March 1, 1816 in Marburg ; † June 30, 1880 ibid) was a German pharmacologist .

Life

Carl Philipp Falck studied medicine at the Philipps University in Marburg . In 1840 he became active in the Corps Guestphalia Marburg . In 1843 he received his doctorate in Marburg for Dr. med. Due to his clinical teacher Karl Friedrich Heusinger , he dealt with geographic pathology. He also began with self- experiments and tried to understand the hydrogen and urea metabolism.

In 1845 he qualified as a professor for "Pharmaceutical Science and Related Subjects". He then practiced in his hometown and was a private tutor. From 1855 onwards he worked on the manual of special pathology and therapy , volumes 2 and 6, edited by Rudolf Virchow . In 1857 he became an associate professor and in 1863 a full professor .

In 1857 he announced the lecture on hygiene . After long struggles he founded the pharmacological institute in Marburg in 1867, based on the model of the institute created by Rudolf Buchheim in Dorpat . He was a full professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Marburg.

Carl Philipp Falck was married twice. The future professor Ferdinand August (1848–1926) from Kiel comes from the first marriage . Together with this son, he founded the journal "Contributions to Physiology, Hygiene, Pharmacology and Toxicology" in 1875.
