Carl Reimers

Carl Reimers , alternative spelling also Karl (born June 6, 1901 in Kiel , † May 13, 1969 in Wuppertal ) was a German surgeon.

Life

Reimers was born in Kiel. After studying medicine in Würzburg , he first worked in physiology and chemistry before starting his surgical training with Fritz König in 1929 . In 1935 he qualified as a professor and in 1936 moved to the Canton Military Medical College as a full professor of surgery , where he also worked as an advisory surgeon for the 4th Kwangtung Army. After the city was occupied and destroyed by Japanese troops, he returned to Würzburg in 1938, where he was initially an adjunct professor and, from 1940, a scheduled adjunct professor and deputy head of the Würzburg University Surgical Clinic. During the Second World War he worked as a senior staff doctor as an advisory surgeon for the Wehrmacht . Reimers did not become a member of the NSDAP . After the war, Reimers moved to the Ferdinand Sauerbruch Clinic in Wuppertal, where he rebuilt the surgical clinic. He represented the entire field of surgery, including urology , neuro , vascular , pulmonary and visceral surgery as well as orthopedics . He stayed in Wuppertal until he was 67 years old and after retiring as a surgeon at the Aprath Lung Clinic, where he operated on patients with pulmonary tuberculosis . Reimers died on May 13, 1969 in Wuppertal while working on a surgical operation textbook.

Politically, Riemers was the deputy district chairman of the FDP in Wuppertal.
