Carl Friedrich August Saenger (born April 5, 1860 in Schneidemühl , † November 13, 1901 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German theologian and politician .

Life

Born the son of a chamberlain , Saenger studied philology and later Protestant theology in Leipzig after attending grammar school in Schneidemühl . During his studies in 1881 he became a member of the Normannia Leipzig fraternity . After completing his theology studies, he worked as a pastor in Offenbach am Main , then from 1884 as a preacher for the German-Catholic , free-religious community in Frankfurt am Main. Among other things, he was co-founder of the Society for Ethical Culture and, in 1894, of the Free Library and Reading Hall in Frankfurt am Main.

From 1899 to 1901 he was Radical Democratic for the deputy in the constituency Wiesbaden 11 for the Prussian House . From 1900 he was Frankfurt city ​​councilor of the Liberal People's Party , in whose select committee he was second chairman.
