Carl Schad
Carl Schad (born May 10, 1880 in Bamberg ; † March 27, 1931 in Regensburg ) was a German architect .
Life
Carl Schad was the son of master cutter Georg Schad. He attended secondary school in Bamberg (1890–1896) and the industrial school in Nuremberg (1896–1898). He then studied architecture at the Technical University in Munich. After that he worked for two years at the Landbauamt Bamberg. In the winter semester of 1904/05 he became an assistant at the chair for building construction with Emil Edler von Mecenffy . Afterwards he was responsible for the supervision of construction sites at the Munich local building commission for Schwabing-West. On December 1, 1911, he became a building inspector at the Prince of Thurn and Taxis in Regensburg, initially under Max Schultze . On December 1, 1912, he was superstructure inspector, and on February 15, 1913, he became head of the Princely Construction Department, succeeding Schultze. He was responsible for the preservation and renovation of St. Emmeram Castle . In 1922/23 he built the official dormitory at Agidienplatz 7. In 1929/30 he designed and built the Sacred Heart Church in Regensburg.
