Carl Seltmann

Carl Seltmann (born April 2, 1842 in Prudnik , † October 7, 1911 in Breslau ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

Seltmann came from a middle-class background. He attended elementary school in his hometown Neustadt OS (Prudnik) and then the grammar school in Neisse (Nysa). From 1862 he studied Catholic theology at the University of Breslau .

In 1866 he was ordained a priest in Breslau. He was chaplain in Striegau and Gruttke , pastor in Wittstock and then for 12 years in Eberswalde . In 1884 he became the Cathedral Chapter of Breslau. From 1895 he was also editor of the Schlesisches Pastoralblatt . In 1896 he acquired the Dr. theol. in Freiburg im Breisgau . In 1905 he was appointed full honorary professor at the University of Breslau.

Seltmann wrote some writings, most of which were of a more popular scientific nature. He dealt with the problem of separated Christians and worked for their unification .
