Carl Theodor Gans Noble Lord of Putlitz

Carl Theodor Gans Edler Herr zu Putlitz (born July 13, 1788 in Groß Pankow ; † November 24, 1848 ibid) was a German writer and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Carl Theodor was the eldest son of the hereditary marshal and landowner Gerhardt Gans Edler Herr zu Putlitz (1742-1826) and his wife Juliane, née von Winterfeld (1756-1813). His younger brother Eduard (1789-1881) was also hereditary marshal and hereditary member of the Prussian mansion.

From 1808 to 1812 he studied law at the Universities of Helmstedt University , Georg-August University of Göttingen and Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Berlin . From 1812 to 1836 he served together with his brother Albert Eduard Gans Edler Herr zu Putlitz as an administrator on his father's estate in Mansfeld and from 1814 to 1826 in Laaske , where he also lived. From 1826 until his death in 1858 he was the landowner at Groß Pankow and Klein Langerwisch and lived there.

From 1789 he was Canon of Brandenburg and from 1845 Hereditary Marshal of the Kurmark Brandenburg .

He was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly from May 18, 1848 to August 10, 1848. He did not belong to any parliamentary group, but always voted with the “Right Center”. In the 91st session of the National Assembly on October 5, 1848, when it came to the abolition of feudal charges, the Left Member Friedrich Wilhelm Schlöffel proposed : “The National Assembly should decide: Abolition of all feudal charges without compensation, they may consist of cash or personal benefits ". Von Putlitz, on the other hand, demanded: “Those rights and obligations that are only attached to the person in the manorial situation should be abolished without compensation. The same applies to the entitlements of cities, parishes, moral persons, and in particular to their entitlements of the Domanikalfiscus ”.

His successor in the National Assembly was Wilhelm Otto Liebmann .
