Carl Wilhelm Emil Quandt

Carl Emil Wilhelm Quandt (born February 10, 1835 in Cammin , Pomerania province , † January 26, 1911 in Berlin-Lichterfelde ) was a Protestant pastor and superintendent .

Life

Emil Quandt attended grammar school in Stettin and studied Protestant theology in Berlin and Halle. From 1857 to 1860 he worked as vice principal at the secondary school for girls in Stargard . This was followed by a position as rector in Pyritz . On April 24, 1862, he married Anna Sophie Ernestine Munther (December 16, 1841, Stargard - September 17, 1917, Lichterfelde). This marriage resulted in nine children, including one stillbirth, and three other children did not reach the age of eight. From 1862 he worked as a pastor in Kollin in Pomerania. Three years later, the Evangelical Association for Church Purposes employed him as their chaplain in Berlin. From 1867 to 1874 he was pastor of the German Evangelical Congregation in Haag . From there he went back to Berlin and was first pastor at St. Elisabeth, then in 1884 superintendent. In 1888 he was appointed as superintendent and pastor to the first director of the seminary in Wittenberg . He was an honorary doctor of theology.

Quandt retired at the age of 73. He died two years later in Berlin-Lichterfelde and was buried in the St. Elisabeth cemetery .

He composed the text of the Christmas carol With the Shepherds I want to go , EG (Rhineland, Westphalia, Lippe) No. 544 and is the editor of several sermon volumes:
