Carl Zimmerer

Carl Gerhard Zimmerer (born December 4, 1926 in Bad Berneck ; † April 23, 2001 ) was a German corporate broker and management consultant.

Life

At the age of 17, Zimmerer was called up for military service in 1944, and in 1945 he was taken prisoner by the United States and France. In 1947 he made up his Abitur in Kulmbach and studied political science in Erlangen , Frankfurt am Main and Geneva . He received a degree in economics and obtained his doctorate in 1953 under Wilhelm Röpke as a doctor ès sciences politiques (ès sc. Pol.) In Geneva. After studying carpenters worked as Assistant Professor at the Universities of Mannheim and Cologne , before he in 1955 Dusseldorf for Commerzbank was active. From 1956 to 1958 he was director of the main Düsseldorf branch.

Zimmerer founded InterFinanz in 1958 together with Gerhard Kienbaum , Willy Rasche and Walter Scheel . As managing partner, he led this company to one of the most important in the merger & acquisition industry in German-speaking countries. In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of Agrippina Rückversicherungs AG and a long-standing member of the board of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft.

In 1988 the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia awarded him the title of professor.

In 1997 the private business school WHU in Vallendar awarded him the title of Dr. rer. pole. hc

Carl Zimmerer published 15 books and over 200 specialist articles.

Politically, Zimmerer, a former “thought leader” of the FDP , most recently placed himself in the right-wing conservative spectrum. Since the beginning of the 1980s, alongside Günther Kissel and Karl-Heinz Kausch, he was one of the organizers of the Düsseldorf men's group , which organized monthly lecture evenings with national conservatives and right-wing extremists. Zimmerer published a. a. in Criticón , Nation und Europa , the Preussische Allgemeine Zeitung and the Junge Freiheit .

Zimmerer was a member of the Corps Altsachsen in the WSC.

He is the father of the current board member of Allianz SE, Maximilian Zimmerer. His son Xaver Zimmerer is the managing partner of InterFinanz. His daughter Carola Kryschi is a professor of physical chemistry at the University of Erlangen.
