Carl Freiherr von Friesen (zu Rötha) (born May 13, 1619 - † July 29, 1686 in Rötha) was the Electoral Saxon Privy Councilor , President of the Upper Consistory , Council of Churches , Chief Court Judge and owner of the manor , heir to Rötha , Kotta, Rüben and Geschwitz .

Life

Carl von Friesen studied for three years in Wittenberg and returned to Dresden in 1638 . In the following years he traveled to Italy and southern Germany, then to France and Holland and attended the universities of Paris and Leyden.

The Count Palatine von Sulzbach , Christian August , took him into his service in 1645 as a Privy Councilor and sole administrator of the Palatinate County; In this position, Friesen obtained religious freedom for the country's evangelicals at the peace assembly in Munster and Osnabrück. 1653 he became a governor of the county Henneberg in electoral Saxon services in which he was appointed a privy councilor to Dresden 1656th In 1669 he temporarily led the government for the underage Duke Friedrich Wilhelm III in Altenburg .

Ä. von Friesen zu Rötha (1578–1659), Privy Councilor, Chancellor, President of the Court of Appeal and owner of the manor, the mother Catharina, b. von Einsiedel (1585–1667). In 1645 he married Justina Sophia von Raben (1619 Eldena - 1691 Dresden), daughter of Otto von Raaben auf Stügk and Steinfeld and Eva von Wackerbarth , and lived with her in Dresden at Seestrasse 1, which he acquired in 1658.
