Carlferdinand Zech

Carlferdinand Zech (born December 14, 1928 in Potsdam ; † September 16, 1999 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German musicologist , composer and choir director .

Life

Zech visited the Francke Foundations in Halle an der Saale. From 1939 to 1943 he was a member of the Stadtsingechors zu Halle . After that he attended high school in Schönebeck (Elbe) until his Abitur in 1948, where Hans Naumilkat was his teacher. During this time he directed the folk choir and the Schönebeck school choir. Zech also composed his first musical works for the stage. From 1950 to 1955 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Halle , where Werner Gößling (conducting), Fritz Reuter (music theory and composition) and Walther Siegmund-Schultze (music history) were his teachers. He completed his studies as Kapellmeister . He also passed the state examination in the subjects of conducting and music theory .

From 1955 to 1959 he was an assistant at the Institute for Musicology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . He then led the Stadtsingechor zu Halle until 1968, which he rebuilt. He installed choir classes and affiliated the choir to the Latina August Hermann Francke . From 1951 to 1976 he chaired the University Choir Halle "Johann Friedrich Reichardt". From 1968 he taught music theory and music history at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. In 1972 he received his dissertation A The Solo Concerts by Dmitri Shostakovich . Investigations into the structure of the works and their aesthetic evaluation for Dr. phil. PhD. 1982 followed the dissertation B The compositional design means of our century as the subject of music theory . Zech published several music theory articles and emerged as a composer.

His estate has been in the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt since 2013 .
