Carlo Maciachini
Carlo Francesco Maciachini or Maciacchini (born April 2, 1818 in Induno Olona , Province of Varese , † June 10, 1899 in Varese ) was an Italian architect and restorer .
Life
Carlo Maciachini was born on April 2, 1818 in Induno Olona in the province of Varese. After studying at the Accademia di Brera in Milan , he graduated as an architect. One of his most famous projects is the Monumental Cemetery in Milan ( Cimitero Monumentale ), which opened in 1866. He also designed numerous church buildings and was involved in the restoration of existing places of worship in Lombardy , Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia .
Carlo Maciachini died in Varese on June 10, 1899. He was buried in the Monumental Cemetery in Milan.
A stop in Milan's metro system ( Metropolitana di Milano ) opened in 2003 was named after him.
