Carlo Molfetta (born February 15, 1984 in Mesagne ) is an Italian Taekwondoin .

He celebrated his first success with the junior world championship title in 2000. In the following year he surprisingly made it into the final in the adult division at the world championship in Jeju-si and won the silver medal in the weight class up to 67 kilograms. In the following years Molfetta was particularly successful at European championships. In the class up to 72 kilograms he won silver in Lillehammer in 2004 and bronze in Riga in 2005 . Molfetta also started at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . There he finished seventh after an opening defeat and a victory in the lap of hope.

Molfetta has been in the weight class up to 87 kilograms since 2009. At the World Championships in Copenhagen he reached the final and won his second World Championship medal with silver. His first international title was finally followed by the 2010 European Championship in Saint Petersburg , where he became European champion with a superior final victory. Molfetta collected further bronze medals at the 2011 World Championships in Gyeongju and the 2012 European Championships in Manchester .

In January 2012, Molfetta reached the final of the European Olympic qualification tournament in Kazan in the weight category over 80 kilograms and qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . There he advanced to the final and won the fight for the gold medal against Anthony Obame , with 9: 9 points after extra time and after the jury's decision.
