Carlo Pometta

Carlo Pometta (born June 13, 1896 in Giornico , †  December 29, 1979 in Lausanne , resident in Broglio ) was a Swiss judge .

Life

Pometta grew up in Giornico as the son of a country doctor and later director of the Oberwallis district hospital. After the family moved to Brig , he attended the Rosmini college in Domodossola and the high school in Lugano . Pometta then studied law at the University of Bern , where he received his doctorate in 1919. First he worked as a lawyer in Lugano, and from 1923 in Geneva .

From 1929 he worked as a secretary at the Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne and was then a full-time judge from 1939 to 1966. From 1959 to 1960 he was President of the Federal Supreme Court . Pometta was a member of various federal commissions, including the Grain Commission from 1954.
