Carlos Bustos (born April 16, 1966 in Córdoba ) is an Argentine football coach and former player on the position of defender .

Life

player

Bustos came in 1977 at the age of eleven in the youth division of his home club CA Talleres , where he later received his first professional contract . He made his debut as a professional player on August 30, 1987 in the role of a central defender .

In the summer of 1990 he moved to the league competitor Deportivo Español , where he was under contract until the end of 1992. In the first half of 1991 he played on loan for CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , with whom he finished second behind the Boca Juniors in the final table of this half season .

In the first half of 1993 he played for the Argentine record champions River Plate and in the following season 1993/94 for the Argentinos Juniors . After two and a half seasons for the CA Independiente , Bustos moved in January 1997 to Monarcas Morelia in the Mexican league , for which he completed a total of 28 point games in the 1997 calendar year. In the first half of 1998 he was loaned to the second division club CF Pachuca , with whom he was promoted to the first division. In the second half of 1998 he played on loan for the Argentine CA Huracán . In the first half of 1999 he completed his last four league games for the CA Monarcas Morelia, in whose ranks he let his active career end.

Trainer

After completing his active career, he initially looked after the youth division of his home club Talleres and then the football team Universitario de Córdoba . After a few more positions in the amateur field, he was brought to Guadalajara as an assistant coach by the Mexican Tomás Boy , who was head coach at Club Atlas at the end of 2007 .

In 2011 Bustos moved to the coaching staff of his former club Monarcas Morelia and in 2012 got his first job as head coach of a professional club for the second division Neza FC , a branch team of the Monarcas.

After a negative start for the Monarcas in the Clausura 2013 , Bustos was appointed head coach of the main club in February 2013, where he coached the team for the first time on February 22, 2013 in a home game against CF Pachuca (3-2). Under his direction, the Monarcas lost none of their remaining ten points games of the Clausura 2013 and qualified for the Liguillas , where they were defeated in the quarter-finals against the capital club Cruz Azul (2-4 and 1-0).

In the Apertura 2013 he reached the Liguillas again with the Monarcas and this time failed in the quarter-finals against the eventual champions Club León . In the same half-season , Bustos won his first title as a coach when he won the final with the Monarcas against his former club Atlas for the Copa México . However, this success did not protect him from the early dismissal, which overtook him after a negative start in the Clausura 2014 and a 0-1 defeat at Club Tijuana on January 24, 2014. Before the start of Apertura 2014 , Bustos was signed as the head coach of Deportivo Guadalajara , but was dismissed after eleven match days.
