Carlos Manuel de Céspedes , usually referred to as Céspedes for short , is a municipality in the province of Camagüey . It is named after Carlos Manuel de Céspedes , who is considered one of the fathers of the Cuban nation. The administrative seat is the city of the same name.

Céspedes is located around 50 kilometers west of the provincial capital Camagüey . It has an area of ​​653 km² and has 24,488 inhabitants, which corresponds to a population density of around 36.9 inhabitants per square kilometer (2012 census).
