Carlos Martínez (middle distance runner)

Carlos Martínez ( Carlos Rodolfo "Charly" Martínez de Anda; * 1949 ; † December 31, 2013 ) was a Mexican middle-distance , long-distance and obstacle runner .

At the Athletics Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1969, he won bronze over 800 m and silver over 1500 m .

In 1971 he won bronze in the 1500 m at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. At the Pan American Games in Cali he was seventh over 1500 m and eighth over 800 m.

At the Central America and Caribbean Games in 1974 bronze followed over 1500 m. In 1975 he won the Central American and Caribbean Championships over 1500 m and won bronze over 5000 m . At the Pan American Games in Mexico City , he won silver over 1500 m and bronze over 800 m.

In 1977 he won the 3000 m obstacle course at the Central America and Caribbean Championships and was seventh at the World Cup in Athletics in Düsseldorf . At the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1978, he won silver in this discipline.

As a trainer, he looked after the marathon runner Rodolfo Gómez .
