Carlos Verona Quintanilla (born November 4, 1992 in San Lorenzo de El Escorial ) is a Spanish cyclist .

Career

As a junior driver, Verona was third in the Spanish road racing championships in 2009 and in the individual time trial in 2010 . After moving to adults, he drove for the Spanish Continental Team Burgos 2016-Castilla y León in 2011 and 2012 and won the 2012 mountain classification of the Vuelta Ciclista a León . In 2013 he joined the Belgian ProTeam Omega Pharma-Quick Step .

After Verona switched to the Australian Orica-BikeExchange team in the course of the 2016 season, he finished eighth overall in the Tour of Catalonia 2017 and thus achieved his first top position in a stage race of the UCI WorldTour . In spring 2018 he finished second in the GP Miguel Indurain and then won the mountain classification of the Tour of the Basque Country .
