Carmen Fuggiss

Carmen Fuggiss (* 1963 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German opera and operetta singer (soprano).

Life

Carmen Fuggiss grew up in Emmendingen , attended the Goethe-Gymnasium there and then the St.-Ursula-Gymnasium in Freiburg, where she passed her Abitur. At the age of 15 she sang in the choir of the Städtische Bühnen Freiburg. After radio recordings and solo appearances at important concerts during this time, she took part in the ZDF gala evening together with Anneliese Rothenberger in 1983 .

She then began studying at the Karlsruhe and Frankfurt Schools of Music, where Armand MacLane-Lanier was her most influential teacher. Fuggiss also studied with Hanna Ludwig at the Mozarteum Salzburg . Her subjects were graduate music education, singing, piano and opera.

After graduating, she began her artistic career at the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg and at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . In 1993 she received an engagement at the Hanover State Opera , where she works as a lyric coloratura soprano with a focus on roles by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Strauss . In addition, she made a name for herself in roles in the Italian subject. Her most important operatic roles include Pamina ( Die Zauberflöte ), Susanna ( Figaro's wedding ), Konstanze ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ), Lucia ( Lucia di Lammermoor ), Gilda ( Rigoletto ), Sophie ( Der Rosenkavalier ), Zerbinetta ( Ariadne auf Naxos) ), Alban Bergs Lulu and Aribert Reimanns Melusine . In numerous radio and television productions, Fuggiss has shown her versatility in a wide variety of genres from the Middle Ages to the modern, from jazz to chansons .

Carmen Fuggiss worked with conductors such as Georg Solti , Michael Gielen , Kent Nagano , Fabio Luisi , Semjon Bytschkow , Lothar Zagrosek , Heinrich Schiff , Hubert Soudant and Ingo Metzmacher .
