Carol Goodman (born February 10, 1959 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American writer and lecturer in creative writing . Together with her husband Lee Slonimsky , she uses the pseudonym Lee Carroll , and she published the novel series The Fairwick Chronicles as Juliet Dark .

Life

Carol Goodman spent her childhood on Long Island , where she attended a public school in the suburbs, then attended the alternative The Village School for two years . Her talent as a writer showed up early on. At the age of nine, she delivered a handwritten 90-page manuscript illustrated with drawings on the occasion of the school introduction to the subject of creative writing . Title: The Adventures of the Magical Herd . At the age of 17, Goodman was recognized by Long Island University as the Young Poet of Long Island .

This was followed by a move to the elite Vassar College , 100 kilometers north of New York . Goodman graduated with a major in Latin . After college, she worked in various office jobs and wrote short stories for some time . The less than satisfactory jobs led Goodman to Austin at the University of Texas to use her knowledge of Latin and to become a university teacher. She then taught Latin for three years in the Austin Independent School District until the birth of her daughter Maggie . A few years later, Goodman completed her literary talents at The New School University with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing. She wrote short stories that were published in The Greensboro Review , Literal Latte , Midwest Quarterly, and other magazines. About a year after graduating from MFA, she succeeded in her first successful novel The Lake of Dead Languages (Eng. The face under the ice) ; she then concentrated full-time on writing. She also teaches creative writing at The New School to this day (2012). 

Together with her husband Lee Slonimsky , she writes the Black Swan Rising series. Carol Goodman lives with her family in New York's Hudson Valley .
