Carola Matthiesen
Carola Matthiesen (born November 9, 1925 in Eslohe ; † April 29, 2015 ) was a German educator , librarian , writer and poet .
Life
After attending school and training as an educator, Carola Matthiesen practiced the profession of kindergarten teacher at short notice . This was followed by further training with a focus on literature. She married in 1954 and their son was born three years later. From 1971 to 1987 Carola Matthiesen was first deputy director and then director of the Meschede City Library . She died on April 29, 2015 and found her final resting place in the Südfriedhof in Steinstrasse in Meschede.
Carola Matthiesen was a member of the German Haiku Society , the Westphalian Literature Office , the Christine Lavant Society and the Society of Poetry Friends in Innsbruck and a founding member of the Christine Koch Society .

She has received several national and international awards and prizes.
- Haiku-Preis zum Eulenwinkel and award of the title “Senryumeister” of the German Haiku-Gesellschaft eV in 2001
- 1st prize in the haiku competition of the German Haiku Society in 1999
- 1st prize sonnet (as an art form within poetry) of the Society of Poetry Friends in 1995
- 1st prize on the subject of ballad poetry by the Gesellschaft der Lyrikfreunde in 1994
- Readers' award of the Society of Lyric Friends in 1993
- Nomination of the volume of poetry "Licht von Sternenfeldern" for the book prize of the Evangelical Church in Germany in 1989
