Caroline Baron

Caroline Baron (* 1961 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American film producer and founder of the FilmAid organization . She was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Picture in 2006 with Capote .

Life

She grew up with her three siblings in Woodmere, Long Island . Her father was a director of a primary school and her mother a teacher. She graduated from Brandeis University and graduated in English in 1983. After graduating, she worked as a production assistant on the horror film Atomic Hero , followed by films such as Invasion USA , 52 Pick-Up and Murphy's Law . From 1988 to 1989 she was executive producer on the television series The Wonder Years . In the following years, she was involved as a co-producer on films such as Fast Food Family - A family to squeak , Santa Clause - A beautiful mess and in love .

In 1999, under the influence of reports of families who fled Kosovo, founded the non-profit organization FilmAid International . The organization shows films about protection against HIV, the dangers of landmines, women's rights and peaceful conflict resolution in crisis regions around the world. Through this activity she traveled to countries such as Kenya , Tanzania , Guinea , Kosovo , Macedonia , Afghanistan and Haiti .

In 2005 she founded the production company A-Line Pictures with her husband, producer Anthony Weintraub . In 2006 she was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Picture for Capote . In 2008 she received the Alumni Achievement Award from Brandeis University .
