Carolyn Dando

Carolyn Dando (born April 28, 1989 in Auckland City , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand actress and singer .

Life

Dando performed publicly as a child. At the age of 10, she was selected, without having ever performed before, to sing with  Suzanne Prentice  at a  World Vision - "Kids for Kids" concert. The following year she made a solo appearance in front of several hundred school children and their parents at the annual regional school choir festival with guests such as the Mayor of Auckland City. Her teachers advised her to develop her musical talent. From the age of 14 she received classical singing, music and piano lessons . She studied u. a. with the trained soprano Gina Sanders and took part in regional singing competitions.

Her acting career began in high school ; She had her first role in a school production of the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream , in which she played an elf in a dialogue with the character of Puck in Act 2 . She became a member of the school theater group and later also joined the local theater club. In 2006 she appeared in a production of the musical Godspell ; In 2007 she played the role of daughter Elsie in Noël Coward's play Fumed Oak at the Papakura Theater .

She got her first professional role as an actress in the American television film Fatal Contact: Avian Flu in America (2006), in which she played Lauren Connelly, the daughter of an American businessman who fell victim to a deadly bird flu virus on a business trip to China infected and unwittingly introduces the disease to the United States. In the US series Legend of the Seeker - The Sword of Truth she was seen in an episode role in 2009; she played Veta, a member of a tribe of healers. In 2010 she played an episode role on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street as Penny trying to avenge the death of her father, who died when she was a child.

She played her most important role to date in Peter Jackson's film drama In My Heaven (2009), where she played the outsider Ruth Connors, a classmate of the main character Susie, an unconventional character with an interest in art and a penchant for the supernatural .

Between 2007 and 2010 she attended several singing and acting workshops. From 2009 to 2012 she studied drama and dance in her native Auckland. Dando, who also works as a model, lives in Auckland.
