Carsten Cramer

Carsten Cramer (born December 23, 1968 in Münster ) is a German marketing specialist , lawyer and football official .

Life

After finishing school, Cramer was, among other things, stadium announcer for Borussia Mönchengladbach and ran a table tennis shop . After successfully completing his law studies , the Münster native worked for the Preußen Münster sports club in his hometown until July 2000 as a stadium announcer, marketing manager and most recently as commercial director. Subsequently, from September of the same year, he found a job at the Hamburg sports rights marketer Ufa ; With his team, as “Head of HSV”, he was responsible for marketing Hamburger SV . Cramer and his employees negotiated contracts with partners such as the Milchstraße publishing group or the supplier Nike ; at the end of the 2001/02 season , the advertising income of the then Champions League participant is said to have amounted to around 47 million marks .

At the company, later renamed “Sportfive” and “Lagardère Sports”, he worked until 2010, from 2002 in the same position as before at HSV, but then at its competitor Borussia Dortmund . Between 2007 and 2010, Cramer was again directly active at the company's headquarters in Hamburg and, as Senior Vice-President, was responsible for the nationwide marketing and sales business of “Sportfive”. In October 2010 he returned to Borussia, which employed him as director for sales and marketing.

Cramer's field of activity was later expanded to include co-management of BVB Merchandising GmbH and Sports & Bytes GmbH , the latter acting as the club's IT partner. In the 2010/11 financial year, Borussia Dortmund achieved sales of a good 215 million euros and was thus able to break the 200 million mark for the first time; far more than half is said to have been earned in Cramer's business segments. He was also involved in the negotiations with the supplier Puma , with whom a contract has been in place since 2012 and is valid until 2028, or with the partners Opel and "Westlotto" in the further course of the process.

On March 1, 2018, Cramer was appointed co- managing director of Borussia Dortmund Geschäftsführungs-GmbH , which Hans-Joachim Watzke has headed since January 2006. Together with Thomas Treß, he is authorized to represent the company within this group . He is also responsible for digitization and internationalization .

Private

Cramer is a father of four, has founded a football club in the past and worked at times as a street worker .
