Carsten Jonas

Carsten Jonas (born December 26, 1941 in Hanover ) is a German architect and urban planner .

Life

Jonas studied from 1963 to 1970 at the Technical University of Darmstadt with Max Guther , Rolf Romero , Hans-Gerhard Evers and Manfred Teschner and is a member of the Association for Urban, Regional and State Planning (SRL).

From 1971 to 1974 Jonas worked as a research assistant in the “Staff for Overall Municipal Development” of Darmstadt's Lord Mayor Heinz W. Sabais; From 1975 to 1976 he completed a legal traineeship in the state of Hesse in the field of urban development and completed this with the second state examination.

From 1977 to 1985 Jonas was head of the planning office and deputy building consultant for the city of Bamberg and from 1986 to 1991 head of the building consultant for the city of Bamberg.

From 1992 to 2006 Jonas taught - appointed for the subjects “Basics of Urban Design” and “Building History” - as a professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt . Since his retirement he has worked as a freelance urban planner, lecturer and author.
